Know this has been posted before, but its been awhile...what's the current take on walking OB sans suit in the mornings, still permitted or is it becoming more restricted or no longer allowed....I know it can change from time to time...thanks for your help

We were there the first two weeks of April. Walked the length of Orient in my birthday suit between 6:30 and 8:00. No problem. Kept a small pareo curled up in my hand just in case the uniforms showed up.

Not saying folks weren't doing it without issues as is often stated, but on each of our recent trips, we never saw anyone going past the rocks AN at any of the times we were up and on the beach before 8am. Always hoping for "safety in numbers" but never had any gaggle to be in near trail of.

I wonder how a sign-up list would go? Have it at the Perch (or similar location), that one could sign it for the next day, to meet at the Perch at 7 or 8 AM, and have a group walk up the Beach. I'm sure that Club O would not want to be involved, but maybe leaving the sign in sheet close by?

I honestly don't see how 'safety in numbers' makes any sense in this case. That really only applies where there is a physical danger involved. IF the gendarmes are there and enforcing no nudity beyond the rocks, it doesn't matter whether there is one person or 15, they will approach you and either tell you to cover up or give you a citation. ...unless you proceed on the assumption that you can RUN faster than someone else to get away from them...

I don't get it. If one wishes to take a long naked walk, why not walk up and down the Club O section several times rather than go where the powers that be on the island have asked that you not go? The presence of gendarmes has nothing to do with being a good guest on someone else's island.

maybe that was the wrong term to use, I should have said perhaps the presence of others would be a confidence builder to a chicken to make the attempt.

O K Suggestion withdrawn- Walkers, you are on your own.
We have always stayed at Club O when in SXM, and have NEVER gone past Pedro's without a coverup. I was just trying to help the early morning folks that wished to keep up with what used to be a somewhat normal activity. The times they are a changin' We need to adapt with the changes or accept the consequences whether it be a warning from the Gendarmes or a citation.

There is a very loosely related story that ends with 'I don't have to run faster than the bear. I only need to run faster than YOU'.

Now, that is something we don't need to see, a bunch of naked people running down the beach to get away from the Po Po

I agree. I think the sign by Pedros is a rule not a suggestion. I would expect ones from other countries abide by the rules we have here in the States so I will do my best to follow theirs.

Yes, that was what I was referring to. And considering the age of most naturists on Orient these days, if a person doesn't walk with a cane, they might be able to get away!

I just walked the entire beach nude two days last week. I was back by 8:30. Not many other nude walkers, but it was off season. There were more textile walkers than I have seen in the past.

The only gendarmes I saw were groups of 4-5 checking on people in cars. I am not sure what they were looking for, but my friend who lived on the island thought them might be looking for escaped criminal from a jail bread earlier this year. I know they look for illegals as well.

At least they are looking for bigger problems than nude people walking the beach.
