Never heard of them. We use Kenny's Car rental, an advertiser on this site. Leslie is the best. You reserve giving hhhim your flight info and he meets you at the airport. No need to take a shuttle to an off-site vendor. God forbid you have a problem he'll come immediately. But we've not had any problems because his fleet is new.

Thanks.

I hunted directly and Zezgo has locations around world but SXM not a live choice.

North has similar locations and SXM is choosable. 10 days, $126 total tax and CDW included meet you at arrival hall with sign and shuttle to where not sure.

Google AI is so intelligent it says you will likely return to where you picked it up. Man, what would we do without AI?

And I tried one of the “super TTOL fans” companies in the past and they weren’t at the airport when we arrived and another company called them for us, long delay and I got driven to a place around maho beach and the guy had zero personal skills, insisted on collision and liability after a big recurring discussion on this forum and quite frankly was the worst rental we have ever had.

Ive tried a bunch of others up/down the airport road with good success except one I would avoid.

We will probably go with our recurring winner, which is ACE/Safari.

I agree. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Have to agree with Carol. That price is impossible. 20 years ago we were paying around $180.00 approx. for 7 days, pretty sure costs have not gone down.

My vote is for Kenny's - Lesley's great reputation is well-deserved.

North Car Rental scores a 2 out of 5 on the trustpilot site, with 81% of reviewers giving them 1 out of 5. Numerous people refer to them as scammers. Stick to the tried and true car rental companies.

Take a gander at their website. Try to book 10 days end of July into Aug.

As I said, found via Kayak which is where i have booked dozens of rentals for over a decade without issue. It is a prepay and probably has one of those $800 deposits (tho they dont say that) when you arrive and pay.

We barely want a car this trip and could probably survive cabbing to/from orient village lodging. Im thinking one trip to grand case, one to super U, one to the Dutch side.

I used to feel that way about ACE and Advantage. I used to tell my secretary advantage is a disadvantage. But one year I was finishing my taxes on the road and had a file folder with my W-2s and other info and had advantage. I returned the car and got on a plane at DFW and realized I left it in the car. Not only am I going this is going to be a pain and at best they throw it away and at worst they open some identity theft. I got off the plane, called advantage and explained and they said we already fedex’d it to your house. I was like WOW. So I never avoided their low rate again.

I’ll let you know if and after we roll the dice.

At 10 days, $126 total ???? Sounds like "Rent-a-wreck"!!! I don't drive a wreck at home, not going to pay to drive one on the island!!! For the last eight years we have been renting from SAX, a lovely couple Cindy and Anil Puran have taken us in like family!! Great service and great rates!!! I'm all about service!!! These people provide that and then some!! https://www.saxcarrental.com/

In that case, I think I'd just forego the car and use a taxi when I wanted to leave my lodging. Year before last we rented a villa for our 35th anniversary. We always rent from AAA, but decided to try Sax for that one week based on reviews we'd seen here. They pretty much forced us to buy liability insurance, which I knew we didn't need, and even without that, the one week cost us what we usually pay for three. We used the car maybe four times. Definitely not worth it.

Isn't liability supposed to be provided and included by the rental company and not a line item charge to the rental customer buy Dutch law?

That's why some companies like Hertz doesn't ask to add or charge extra for the Liability. Always included in the quote as free.

20 years and counting for us going to sxm and 15 years have been renting from AAA. NOT A SINGLE HASSLE BYTHESE GUYS. Alain forgot us once at the airport by whatever reason so next year we got rental free for a week…

I just booked as you posted with Hertz at $275 vs $143 for north for 9 days. I figure $14.67 a day difference will be wiped away by liability and who knows what. They better be good scubaman.

I booked and rented with Zezgo from March 25 - April 10. 16 days for $297. I was leery before arrival. I have been scammed by multiple rental agencies. Hertz and Empress both charged for damage or missing spare tire. Both existed prior to my rental. We received a Nissan Versa with low milage. It was a very nice car. Rental agent was polite and speedy. I took photo's of every inch of the vehicle based on my past. Before I returned the sandy car I made sure I gave no reason for a scam, I took the car to a local car wash to be vacuumed out. I returned the car cleaner than I picked it up. No scam and was returned via shuttle. I had no issues and would rent from them again.

If the spare tire was there during inspection when you picked it up then it must have been stolen while car was in your possession. Not the rental companies fault.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Roll the dice and see how it works out.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Scubaman.. I want to be able to depend on the car I rent in SXM and using price as the only criterion, especially when it's a LOT cheaper, sends up lots of red flags to me.
