We had an experience with a drug dog many years ago when returning from a trip to Grenada via SJU. We'd to reclaim our bags and wait with them in line before rechecking them.

A handler was walking through the area and his dog stopped at our luggage and in particular he was sniffing our carry-on cooler bag. It scared the heck out of me even though I knew there was nothing in there he could be looking for. Of course, I had to open it and show the handler and in the end he apologized for the inconvenience and explained the dog was young and very new on the job. Seems the dog was more interested in the uneaten remains of my tuna sandwich than anything else.
