I don't think that mentality is strictly reserved for people from cruise ships. I see those same actions taking place at many timeshare resorts all over the island. People will "reserve" their chair even before sunrise and sometimes not even show up until the afternoon when they have finished their shopping trip to Philipsburg or Marigot.
