Drove from CT to Newark Friday afternoon. Checked in to Wyndham Garden where they informed me that I did not have a Park & Fly room. I showed them my reservation, booked through hotels.com, which stated “Standard King - No refunds, Free Wireless Internet Free Airport Shuttle Free Parking” I was then told the free parking was only for the nights actually spent at the hotel even though they never charge for parking – Huh? After negotiations I was out an additional $60 vs the $100+ they originally wanted in addition to the original $131. Sort of smells like a scam! We flew United & the flight left on time at 9 am. After about 45 minutes the pilot informed us we had to return to EWR due to a warning light of some sort. United was able to turn around a plane that arrived shortly after we landed. We ended up sitting in the plane for another hour as they made repairs to this plane as well. Finally arrived around 5 pm. We are now officially on vacation.
Car rental from Unity was seamless as always – great service from Michael!
We spent the week in our timeshare at the Belair – everything was as good as usual.
Breakfast every morning consisted of Baguettes from Le Sucriere along with salami, cheese, ham & coffee
Lunches: BBB, Palm Beach, Gingerbread, Holland House, Karacter & BBQ at Prickly Pear
Dinners: Toppers By The Sea, Pineapple Pete, Moulin Fou, 3 Palms, BBB
Weather was great all week.
Flight home was uneventful – just the way we like them!
Lesson learned: Don’t use hotels.com and find another park & fly hotel in Newark instead of Wyndham Garden.
