We have had very good sailing weather in May, it is before hurricane season and before the kids get out of school. And the cruise ships have whittled their visits down to three days in that month
Be careful not to plan around this advice. There are 6 ships scheduled in Tortola alone in May and likely other smaller ships at the other islands. When the official port schedule is released, I expect there will be more than 6 in Tortola too.
