Peaceful Eastern North Carolin...

Where is a good, relatively inexpensive hotel one can stay at if overnighting in Charlotte? We have driven to Charlotte several times to take a flight to SXM. We did the Park, Sleep and Fly and there are several hotels within 5 to 10 minutes from the airport and they have shuttle service. There is a Quality Inn and Suites about 2.0 miles away, Wingate by Wyndham is about 1.5 miles away and the Microtell Inn is about 2.0 miles away. We used the Microtel Inn and there were not a lot of food choices near by. We've also frequently driven to Charlotte for early morning flights, and agree that there are not a lot of food options around the hotels which are convenient to the airport. Kind of an odd phenomenon, in my opinion.
