Kim, Most types of travel insurance aren't covering losses due to trip cancellations related to coronavirus. The chief exceptions (for most companies): travel insurance will cover you (a) if you purchased "cancel for any reason" insurance, or (b) if you have been diagnosed with coronavirus and are flying home for medical treatment. Don't take my word for it, though -- check with your own insurer. I did - just in case. It would have helped pay for air and hotel if stranded. My take is people are now stranded. Just really hope the couple we helped convince to stay will be ok
