We are on the inaugural first return flight Saturday. It is saving us about $700. We have no bags so the personal item is the only concern. It fit in their little example bag tester at the gate at the airport when we left as i could test it since the gate was next to our noted gate. I too have heard the employees get $10 for every instance when they can upcharge a personal item to a carry on at $40 or more.
