These events were in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun. We aren’t seeing a lot of activity outside Tulum, and even there it’s been relatively quiet with just an occasional incident. So no major change from 2019, and no change in the state dept. safety level. Covid crippled tourism and many workers left the area, as in all tourist areas, but everything is back to normal and it’s busy as ever…It just got to be too busy for us to live there, but we return for visits for the beauty, culture, and especially the people!
As we look to other areas of the Caribbean to winter we see more street crime on St Maarten and Tobago, for example…
