I have a trip report coming with this info but we just got back and used the water maker on the Dufour 44. It worked flawlessly for our 8 day trip. I was under the impression that it ran on 110 (maybe from this post?) but found out later that it is 12v DC on that boat. I suspect they still want you to have the genny on because it probably uses a lot of power. There were three switch/buttons on the panel - Start, Stop, and Flush. Basically, start to start, stop when full, and then press the flush button and it will turn off when done. It was really nice having plenty of water and no real worries about hyper conservation.
Of course, because you can make your own water, the tanks are small so if you DO break the maker, you are then in super-ultra-hyper conservation mode.
