We have been taking our kids every year since 1997 and they are 17 and 15. You have to plan the vacation with them, not about them. We bring the Xbox along and it works wonders. They communicate back home with friends, play games and it keeps them busy at night. My kids like Cheri's, Sunset beach bar (day), shopping in Marigot not Philipsburg, jet skiing at Orient and kayaking to Pinel and snorkeling there. Also took them to St.Barts where they surfed with the locals between 2 islands, very very cool. Still brag about it with friends. They also like Orient (not the nude end) when there are lots of boat people because there's are teenage girls. Also they like Mullet Bay when there are big waves, opposite the reason most on here don't because of the shore break and boogie boarding. Another reason they liked Mullet, it's where they 1st drove a car. Were able to get on the abandon road where there is no traffic or people and it was perfect for learning how to drive. Not advocating you do it, but it worked for us. They were thrilled and looked forward to do it everyday while we were there. Also let them pick a restaurant. Asked the older son to do the research and make the reservation on a recent trip to Maui. It turned out to be terrific and it made him and us feel good. It's not always the perfect vacation but making it interesting is the key for us and them.
