Just returned from 10 days in St. Kitts at the Marriott. The hotel is lovely. Airport is nice, small and you walk down stairs of plane to tarmack and up a few stairs into terminal. I mention this because we travelled with carry-on only and we had some difficulty with bags.

At the Marriott we had a lovely ocean view room in the main building. Be careful if you upgrade to a view room from a standard room because your view may not be very good.

Restaurants--In Marriott we had breakfast at Blu and Calypso. Both were good. The desserts in the little cafe are fabulous. Cucina is a nice Italian restaurant and their antipasto bar is terrific. If you like eggplant parmesan, theirs is fabulous. Our servers name was Patricia and she was great. The Grill Room is the steak house and it's very good, as is Blu for seafood.

Other restaurants. We went to Ottley's plantation for lunch and also Ballahoo for lunch. Both were very good. We had 2 fabulous dinners at Ciao an Italian restaurant that is within walking distance of the Marriott. They have the best Italian food we had on the island. We also went to Marshall's (a $12 return cab ride from the Marriott) and their food is great. People who live on the island say it's the best restaurant on the island. It was the best we tried. We also went to Serendipity. It was good, but not as good as Marshall's.

We took a taxi tour of the island and our driver took us to all the sights and waited while we toured and he even waited while we had lunch. He was also willing to take us to a couple of places not on the tour. We arranged our driver through guest services at the hotel.

We also took another shorter tour out to Turtle Beach. We ate at the Bar and Grill there and it was lovely.

The Marriott also has a casino which is okay. If you get a card you can definitely save money on your hotel bill with your gambling comps.

Weather--The first couple of days were incredibly windy. One day was rainy off and on all day. We had 5 straight days of 83 degree weather, sun and lighter wind. We had a couple of off and on days, but not totally rainy. I guess when a hotel provides umbrellas in every room it should give a clue as to the type of weather you can expect.

Pool was okay. Jacuzzis in pool are cold, not hot. Ocean was nice although I'd only walked along the edge. Many people did go in, but it was quite rough on many of the days we were there.

St. Kitts was a great place to visit. If you're a golfer there's a great course at the Marriott. They also have a wonderful prime rib and lobster dinner meal. Check it out if you go.

Taxi tour lasted approximately 5 hours including time for lunch and cost $80.00. We were upgraded to the ocean view room because we noted our dissatisfaction with the room we were given. I also said that I would be willing to take an ordinary room and not pay any upgrade charge. I just didn't feel that the room we were given originally was worth the extra money.

We don't really know how they figure out the points to money off bill. I played very little, but I probably put $20 - 30 in slot machines each day. My husband plays slots and the tables. He ended up ahead on his gambling while I probably lost a little. The card costs nothing and so we figured we would just gamble as we normally do and see what happens.
