Well day 2 was, what else can I say………paradise! Woke up early coffee by the pool, puttered around a bit and then headed off for Orient. We didn’t get there until about 10:30, so we were way down at the end by Pedro’s. It was ok because we parked right there by the taxi loop and it was just a quick walk. The weather was really nice and breezy and Orient was as beautiful as I remembered. We met a few folks on the beach, had 2 for 1 pina coladas at the Perch and did lunch at the Pirate. All the other restaurants down on that end were closed (Pedro’s, Baywatch, etc). I don’t know if that is a Monday thing or what. But we had a good grouper sandwich, a mango colada and a couple of Caribs. The bill was $21(minus the Caribs that were picked up by Rick and Sue…thanks!).

Next we were off to see Luiz about a suit. I had tried to find a nice skimpy suit in Orlando before I left, but no such luck. The only thongs to be had at home were size extra small or had a chain of rhinestones up the back (that would hurt!). Luiz was able to provide a fit for my wide hips and I ended up purchasing a triangle top, thong bottom, regular bottom and a wrap. Luiz said to be there at 3pm today, so I will have my new suit this afternoon!

Then we were off to Match in Marigot to get more supplies. It’s always kind of fun shopping in the French stores. Trying to figure out which product is exactly what you are looking for or close. I had trouble finding half and half. I think Americans are probably the only ones who like that in coffee. I found a little carton that had a picture of cream over strawberries, so I figured that was close. Then it was off to the deli to search for the caraway gouda that we loved the last time we were here. Well I didn’t see it and when I asked, the girl behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy. Oh well. Maybe we will find it somewhere else. Settled for regular Gouda, another baguette, mango and guava for coladas, water, French sausage, etc. It was much cheaper than the place in Nettle bay.

Went back to the house, walked in and the place was all clean. I could get used to this daily maid thing. Dishes all put away, new towels, fresh bananas cut from the tree outside, etc. We are really being spoiled!!

So we had a few coladas, bread, cheese and sausage by the pool…..watched the sunset….ahhhhh…..paradise! Then we motivated, took showers and headed off for Le Piccolo in Simpson bay. We really enjoyed the old place in Cul de sac, so we wanted to give it a try. The best thing about the old place was the quality of the food for the money. I remember getting out of the old place with 2 dinners, wine, etc for $50. Well, that is not the case any more. All of their dishes are sort of tapas style. This is no big deal for us, we are not really heavy eaters anyway. So we each had two dishes. The food was very good, but I wouldn’t say it is still the same bargain. The bill with a bottle of wine and crème brulee was $91. Also, I have to say that the old location on the porch of that little cottage had a certain ambiance to it…..you just don’t get that in a strip center in Simpson bay. So I would say it is good, but nothing to write home about.

So it was home and to bed for us. We keep waking up so early. The sun is incredibly bright at 6am. We were up this morning and I was putting fresh aloe cut from the garden outside on my slightly burned chest. Next thing we know we here voices…..ooops…it’s the gardener that nobody told us about. Luckily, I think we saw him before he saw us, but who knows. He could have gotten an eye full. Oh well. Just would have been nice to know he was coming….

So that’s where we are today, enjoying fresh bananas cut from the tree, some excellent coffee and a beautiful morning! Today it’s back to OB for more beach time and then who knows. We don’t have a lot of plans this week. Just doing what we feel at the moment!
