Read in the SXM news that Tuesday July 5th there will be an emergency drill at Princess Juliana airport from 9a to 11am with road closure. And that smoke may be seen at airport but to disregard.

I had read about the drill earlier and drove past the Maho end of the runway during the drill.
Plane crash was staged and fire/smudge pots were lit.
Watched as fire response arrived with water/foam.
There were numerous locals and apparent tourists pulling off the road to stare and take photos or on their phones. Probably unaware of the drill.
Camera was in the trunk, so no photos.
Several convoys of emergency response vehicles on the road.
Pretty exciting.
