Found this new app for iphone or android that is approved by CBP. I am going to try this for Oct/Nov trip, as our Global Entry final interview isn't until April of 2017. Here is the link to that website: http://mobilepassport.us/

I live 55 miles from Boston, and the first available date that they had was April. Warwick had the first week in November, but we will be on island during that time. Aince we won't have global entry before our fall trip, why rush it and go when we want to. We figured with mobile pass, that we would not have a long wait at JFK upon our return.

tmsxmsails said: Is there any advantage to getting/using the mobile app if you *do* have Global Entry? Doesn't seem like there would be but figured I'd ask. No, there is no reason to use the app if you have global entry.

No, you submit the data about your trip when you arrive in the US. The app will then display a pass containing a 2d barcode that will be valid for 4 hours. You'll scan that in front of the immigration officer and in front of customs officer. They still will ask you questions about your trip. It basically just makes your declaration electronic instead of filling out the paper form.
You would need to fill out the profile information before submitting the data, but that doesn't take too long.

In Miami, you don't fill out any paper form any more, regardless. You answer the questions at the kiosk.
