Hi posted here since it seems the busier forum. After a few teaser trips to St John the crew wants to spend much more time there this year. We have anchored near customs to clear in on one occasion but that does not seem like a good plan if we want to go to dinner in town. A dinghy ride from Caneel Bay mooring field (and back) also seems like a bad idea. The last time we were there it seemed like people were letting folks off at the Caneel Dock and perhaps catching a cab to town? Does anyone have a good solution for getting to Cruz Bay in the evening while on charter? Thanks Shauneen

Caneel Bay Resort is not a big fan of sharing their dock or property. If you want to go ashore and eat they are more than happy to accommodate you. They do not however want to be the remote dock for Cruz Bay and do not want people passing through the property that way. It is unfortunate but understandable from a business stand point. They really only leaves the anchorage at Caneel Bay and a dinghy ride in to town as a viable option.

Shauneen, Caneel Bay is not friendly to folks that are going anywhere but on their campus. Zozo's is a very good fine dining restaurant that is at Caneel Bay. It was previously in two different Cruz Bay locations before moving to Caneel Bay.
We routinely moor at Caneel Bay and dinghy to Cruz Bay. It is a rolly anchorage with ferry wakes from 5am to 1am and can be a bit rough for a monohull. But, Cruz Bay is a great town and is worth the effort. The dinghy ride into town is down wind and you are sheltered once you turn round Lindt Point. Coming back is upwind and a wee bit moister ride. We'll be doing just that after Cat Fight for some Cruz Bay fun.
