We booked out SXM flight on JB a while ago for March. Last night we got a call that said because of schedule changes, we would not make our connection in JFK. They moved up flight #787 to depart at 7:30am! We arrive from SYR at 7am. Has anyone else had this happen to them? JB's website doesn't even show a flight on March 2 to SXM now!

Debating whether or not to switch carriers at this point. JB said they wouldn't charge us for changes or cancellation.

Yes we've had it happen. We now book out of Boston because it's a direct flight. I'd call them. Especially after looking at what's available and then request to be put on another flight. They do it at no extra charge if THEY changed something.

Once they made adjustments and rescheduled us thru an airport we didn't like so I called and they made other arrangements. Another time our flight dropped off the schedule so I called to find out what had happened. Then at that time I asked if possible to be put on an earlier flight (hadn't chosen that one when I booked but now thought better of it). They said they could but at a change fee so I said you've caused me stress by dumping my rsvp so why not. And they DID change it at no charge.

Good luck!

JB did suggest Boston, but we'd have to drive to Boston and them drive home three weeks later. In March.....? Driving to Syracuse is enough! Actually looking into flying Delta and cancelling JB all together. Glad I didn't use points!

Airlines make schedule changes all the time, yes, especially when you THINK you get things all set up a long time in advance, and then they cancel or make a schedule change. The good news I guess you know is that if they cancel or reschedule such that you can't make the flight, you can cancel with no penalty at all and get all your money back. Because of that, they are more likely to be flexible and give you more options, but of course cancelling altogether only is a good option if the price hasn't gone way up on your other options. Airlines--gotta love em! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> or not..

I'm beginning to have a love/hate relationship with the airlines!

Actually looking into Delta. It leaves at the same time out of SYR but allows more time at JFK for transfers. The price is almost the same (Delta is actually a hair cheaper), and that's flying Delta Comfort!

Now the fun begins! Dealing with JB and Delta!

Cheryl,

You shouldn't have any problems dealing with JB - when they make the changes they're usually very good about helping to satisfy the customer, regardless of what that means. Just beware that if you DO decide to cancel the JB flight altogether, it could possibly take 30 to 45 days for the money to be credited back to your credit card. It will happen but sometimes it's immediate and sometimes not quite so fast. We waited for JB to issue a credit once and it took almost two full billing cycles but we did finally get it. Another time it was less than a week so go figure.

Just a thought - and if you can get a much better price on Delta I'd probably jump on it, but would it be of any interest to fly into JFK the day before and spend the night there? And yes, the hotels are not inexpensive but the JB seats are so roomy and all that - Delta not so much from what I've heard and experienced - but typical of most carriers.

Respectfully,

pat

Pat, we did manage to get JB flights cancelled, and they are crediting our CC. At first they wanted to put it in our JB bank, and I said "NO FREAKIN' WAY! Show me the money! They are crediting the CC!! Booked on Delta for $400 cheaper and in Comfort Class.

Free ETOH correct. We flew Delta Comfort back from Grand Cayman a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic flight. High end entertainment system, charging outlets in the seats, plenty of room and, yes, free Blue Moon...

Went out and got a Delta CC for the free bags and priority boarding...now a valid alternative to JB

Is that on a weekend? They have multiple flights and that is Regatta time so they may have added more flights.

Jeff, it's a Thursday. I know it's Regatta week/weekend! We've gone to it every year for the last 16 years. Not sure what JB is thinking, but, I'm sure that we aren't the only ones affected.
Actually, the change saved us nearly $400 switching to Delta. Thank you Jet Blue!!
