Just returned from a whirlwind visit to Tortola for the BVI Half Marathon and wanted to thank everyone for their help. We ended up eating at:

1. The Watering Hole: Small but seemingly tasty menu. Unfortunately it was prerace, so I didn't get to try the wine bar, which looked great.
2. Tortola Sports Club: Again, we ended here Friday night, partly because it was next door to Treasure Isle, where we stayed. It was terrific. The cook fixed some pasta just like I asked with no questions. And my dear race supporter said the sweet and sour pork was some of the best ever. Extra points for the great entertainment of Friday night tennis lessons. LOL. We thought this was going to be a sports bar, but were happy it wasn't! Very reasonable prices, too.
3. Brandywine: I must say all the years we had a boat we talked about going here and never did. Now I wonder where the heck do you put the dinghy? Anyway...we had lunch. Wonderful steak tartare and moules frites! Duvel beer and sauvignon blanc (my reward for toughing out the race!) We went out there thinking we might go for dinner, but ended up staying for a delightful long lunch. Excellent!! But not inexpensive.
4. Cappriccio de Mar: Maybe it was because we had such a great lunch, or maybe it was that we had pizza instead of pasta, but this place was just okay. Full of teenagers Face Timing on the wifi and screaming "oh my God!"

We had intended to go out to Trellis Bay for Saturday lunch, but we didn't get past Brandywine. I think we were glad not to deal with the road construction...We didn't want to get caught up in the three cruise ship day in town. None of them were at Brandywine. And what the heck is the construction project going on at the bay? It looks like an ecological nightmare.

The 1/2 went okay for me. But three St Thomians were in the money winners including the women's winner.

We miss having a boat and going to the BVI. Roadtown isn't a place you really go on vacation, but from the look of Cat City at Wickham's Cay 2, there must be a few sailors here looking for food ideas too.
