garlic shrimp, serves 2

1 lb large shrimp, shelled and deveined
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp garlic, chopped

combine all ingredients. let sit for 15mins, uncovered and unrefrigerated. heat approx 5tbsp vegetable oil on high heat in a large frying pan/wok. add the shrimp and marinade and stir fry for 3 mins, until plump.

i served this with the recipe posted for lidos rice and beans on the side. delicious!

CS, I don't usually like sweet in a savory dish. Does the sugar add a lot of sweetness? Do you think it would work with less?

the sugar doesn't overwhelm the dish whatsoever and in fact doesn't really taste sweet. if it did, i wouldn't like it either. you should give this one a try.

CS, it looks and sounds delicious! I'll have to pick up some shrimp and give it a try. I think I would put more garlic in it though.
