Daily Herald story Haven't heard anything about the Chinese project in SXM lately. Anyone know if it's still going forward? If so, I wonder how many of these sweetheart deals the SXM government agreed to???

I can see offering the breaks now to get the project open and running. Otherwise the situation would be worse with an enormous decaying.giant elephant on cable beach.

I went to Divi for a couple of days earlier in December, and nothing was happening.

thank you jazzgal. We'll be at Divi in March so I'll report if anything's happening. Then we'll be last week at Grand Case Beach Club and have no intention of driving back to Divi.

Time frame for work to begin is in March 2017. This can be heard from playing the audio recording at SMN News. Minister of Finance Richard Gibson Sr says the time frame for that project to begin has always been March of 2017.

We are staying at Belair and can confirm that nothing has happened yet. Folks here know nothing more than us. The original start date of 1/1/17 was likely announced to see how much resistance the project would have (IMO).
March sounds likely. Would not like to own one of the villas on the hill behind this resort since their view will go away.
