Just returned from Antigua and a wonderful 8 day stay at Hawksbill Resort.

We arrived on a Saturday after flying all night from the west coast... long trip. When we arrived it was early evening. We had booked a new Club Room facing the 3rd beach; we were given an older Club Room on the 1st beach and told they were installing air conditioning in the Club Room I was to have had. Couldn't get anywhere that evening, so we took the room on the 1st beach, which was very very nice. In the morning I spoke to the Hotel Manager and advised him that the reservation had been made almost a year in advance to obtain one of the new Club Rooms. In the beginning they were none too helpful.... until I produced an e-mail from their reservations desk only two weeks old, confirming we in fact did have a new Club Room located on the 3rd beach. With the e-mail, we were immediately moved to the location of our desires. In fact were given keys and ask to pick which room we wanted. The room was fabulious and the evening sunset view from our veranda was even more spectacular.

We loved the resort, very clean, no bugs, landscaping so beautiful. The beaches we loved them all. However the 4th beach is by far the most beautiful, the beach is approximately a half mile long. You can only enter the water easily in a couple of locations, but once in the water you can swim until your hearts content. One area is about 60 feet wide of sandy beach and then there are other sandy areas between big slabs of flat rocks that you can easily enter the water through. At most we had a half dozen couples on the beach and many times we were the only ones on the beach. All couples participated in the lifestyle of the beach, which is nice and the beach was visited by basically only male/female couples. A little like St Martin in the good ole days.

Took a day trip to Monserat to see the Volcano; what a great trip. Went to Shirley Heights for the steel drums and music Sunday evening, very interesting and worth the trip, but would not do it again -- too crowded.

We were on the meal plan breakfast and dinner at the resort which we would recommend to anyone. The food was excellent. Taxi fare to get around the island is expensive.

We had a great time and would return again to the Hawksbill resort --- we prefer the fourth beach over the current tourist/crowded situation in St Martin on Club O beach --- we have been going to Club now for 10 years and to St Martin even longer.

We spoke to several people staying elsewhere on the island and from what we gather Hawksbill Resort is one of the best on the island, definately has the best beaches.
