Seeking opinions on the above. We have a one day layover in San Juan on our way to Tortola July 1. We should arrive by around 2:00 and won't need to head back to the airport until 12:30 or so on the 2nd. It will be my wife, myself and our 8 yo son.

Last year we had a similar itinerary and stayed at the Courtyard. It was . . , ok. looking for something better. IC appears nice and has oceanfront rooms laid out nicely for the three of us with a king bed and sleeper sofa at a reasonable rate.

Am I missing anything here?

Thanks!

We've stayed at the IC several times and liked it better than Courtyard by Marriott. It's closer to the airport and within walking distance of quite a few restaurants.

I have only ever stayed here - and it is wonderful - worth more than a nights visit in reality though.

I'm with LocalSailor. El Convento is the best. However, we also stayed (for a lot less money) at At Windchimes which was very pleasant. I know many people stay in the high rises, but we like the smaller hotels.

Generally I like the smaller places as well. Loved the Mafolie last year. I looked at the El Convento and would love to stay there sometime with my wife. With the three of us they didn't have a lot of accommodations that would work and what would was pretty pricey.

El Convento is definitely pricey! That's why I mentioned At Windchimes, which is much more friendly to the old pocketbook. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Windchimes looks really cool. They don't have any vacancies that will work for our date, but I'll definitely remember that for next time.

Thanks for the tip!

We like the Courtyard for a one night stay. The Ritz next door is nice as well. Depends on the layover. Most times it is just a sleep and dinner.
