Hey TTOL,
Yes, I'm late with a few trip reports. In my defense, I'm in the process of packing up my apt (I've only lived here 57 years <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />), so the only things I can find right about now are my bed, clothes, toiletries, fridge and purse<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />
Anywho, I spent a few days in da BVI from March 23rd to the 30th. This was a spur-of-the-moment trip that I booked after NYC got hit with the last snowstorm (a/k/a the straw that broke the camel's (that would be me) back).
Spent a few days at Carrie's, got a chance to hear Quito solo, grab a couple of pina coladas and then head to Jost. Ivan just celebrated his 67th burfday. Went over the trail one day where I stopped to say hi and bye to Mic (hey BigJim he asked how you were doing and when were you coming to visit?). Hailed up Jewel who said she'd see me when I walked back (not). It was lunchtime at One Love and things were hopping. Racquel was doing the waitress thing and a friend of hers Shannon (from NYC) was playing bartendress.
My mom always told me not to talk to strangers and I always listened - when I was a kid. So when one of the imbibers said hi, of course I said hi. That was the beginning of the end. He introduced me to his teenage son then he and I proceeded to spend a lot of time talking about how much we love the BVI, our children, life, our children. Did I mention that while we were talking, we were drinking bushwackers and whenever our cups got empty, he motioned for two more?. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />
After a while, I realized that for the first time I can remember, I was toast. He ordered another round of drinks (which I politely declined), and I asked Racquel to call Bunn to take me back to the campground. All i have to say is never again <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hammer.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hammer.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hammer.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hammer.gif" alt="" />
Got a chance to see Third World at Foxys. Danced the whole time but passed on the after-party since they said they were going till morning. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Banana.gif" alt="" />
Before I know it, it's time to say my goodbyes and Bunn takes me to the ferry, take a seat and hear someone calling my name. Ohmigosh, it's Malcolm, Candace and lindakay. It was such a pleasure running into them and was nice to hang out with them at JR where I finally met Lou. I'll be hanging out at my favorite place (CRC) for a week in May.
Back in NYC and the weather is gorgeous. I head back to da BVI on May 9th for a month. I think that's the only reasons I'm handling the DIF much better this time (usually nobody can talk to me for about a week) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />
A short trip home is better than no trip home.
