Hi Everyone, we're back from SXM and I'd like to reveal some of the things that would help everyone who's going to the island in the near future!
First of all, the weather was outstanding as it was in the mid to upper 80's every day and it cooled to upper 70's at night.. You don't need long pants or long sleeve anything the entire time you're there.
Go to Bonita's Cantina (near the airport bridge), particularly on Monday night, as they have a "pig out" rib fest. Full slab of ribs, fries, pulled pork and cole slaw for $10. Breakfast is great as they are the only place on the island for smoked lox,, cream cheese and toasted bagel yummmm. Jeff Berger is right on with this one!
Go to Orange Fever for lunch, drinks and chairs on Orient Beach. They're around three bars north of Pedro's. I won't give you all the details but, they're great for food and chairs and very friendly.
Mark's Place has all you can eat ribs on Wednesday's ($12.50).
Go to Piazza Pascal in Grand Case. Tuesday nights are Harmony Nights which is a weekly festival in Grand Case and it's all fun. Piazza is run by a young couple from the US and they prepare great food at reasonable prices; yes, cash one to one on Euro exchange.
I'm missing the island already and sloooowly settling into the Chicago mode.
A big hi to SXM Norm and yes, I don't like the way things are going at Oyster Bay Beach Resort as the long time owners are continuing to get squeezed..
