Day 6, Thursday
Today we go on a Private charter cruise with Captain Dave of Double “D” Charters. We leave VG Yacht club w/Captn Dave at 9 am. First stop, the Monkeys. After a few tips from the Captain, everyone but me and Guy, my husband, (I know, one of these days I’ll get up the nerve and try it) the gang jumps in. Guy and I are basking in the sun, watching the pelicans doing their suicide dives when all of a sudden one of them dive right in between my sister and my brothers’ girl friend! There was only about 5 feet between them! Unbelievable!! What I didn’t know, was my brother in law was in front of them, taking a picture of the two of them under water and snapped the camera just as the pelican did it’s dive. Totally cool!! It was great to watch, but if I had been in there, I’d of had a coronary for sure! Those birds dive hard!! and with their mouths WIDE open!!! I thought I had a big mouth!! For sure!! After about 45 min, they all came back and we headed off to JVD and the Soggy Dollar Bar. Brought back wonderful memories and anticipation for our trip this coming January to Sandcastle. Saw Debbie and Bruce, the place was packed, we had lunch and a painkiller (of course) then headed for Foxy’s. As we got off the boat in Great Harbor, it started to rain,,, and rain…. How about tropical downpour??? No shower in the BVI (or at home for that matter) rains on you like that, and for anyone who has been to Great Harbor, the walk from the dock (you know, the one next to the hilly road going to White Bay?) it’s a bit of a walk. The heavens opened just as we got off the boat and did not close up till long after we got to Foxy’s. At least the salt water was washed off. We decided to drown our sorrows in Bushwackers. (yum, wish I was in that tropical downpour right now). Went back to the boat after a few pops, then headed to another snorkel site (I can’t remember the name, I was bushwhacked). A couple of the others were also so only 2 jumped in. Found our way back to the home front, put on some groovy tunes (my brother has a great music selection) heated up some left overs, opened a couple of bottles of wine, ahhhh life is soooo good. To be continued…….
