I've updated my reviews of Biras Creek, Guana Island, and Peter Island at http://www.scubamom.com/bvi to include some new photos and information. Here's a recap:

Biras Creek has redone their two Grand Suites completely to have over 1400 square feet of space including two seaside decks (one shaded, one open to the skies), living room, big bedroom, and huge bathroom complex featuring a free standing tub large enough for two and with an ovean view. The other cottages were redecorated last fall. They still have the complimentary snorkeling trips and Boston Whalers available for guests to explore the North Sound.

Peter Island redesigned their Beach Front rooms to have a huge shower and also Jaccuzi with enough room for a couple to sit side by side and it also has an ocean view. Both restaurants are open most nights so guests have a choice of dining in the elegant Tradewinds restaurant (dress code is smart resort wear - collared shirt and slacks for men) or in the more casual Beach bar and grill. Live entertainment is provided most nights at one or the other. The most popular are the Saturday night buffet, Sunday noon beach buffet with a steel drum band, and "West Indian" cuisine night at the beach grill. Moorings are in the yacht harbor for visiting sailboats.

Guana Island is as lovely as ever - lots of plants were flowering and we saw quite a few of the 5' iguanas this time (these are more rare than their cousins on Galapagos). As always the cuisine was excellent. We stayed in the North Beach Cottage this time (for the first time) and it was truly a hideaway in paradise. Located on a remote section of the beach and hidden in a tropical jungle, it has a bedroom, living room, kitchen, shaded terrace, and sun porch plus a private oceanside deck by the sea. Guests who stay there have a golf cart to provide an easy means to explore the island valley and reach the calm White Beach and bar.

Drakes Anchorage was closed.

Little Dix was gorgous as always, and the Baths were busy as usual. We love to have lunch at the Top of the Baths (cheeseburger and beer in paradise along with a great view). We found the gift shops there probably the best on the island now since some businesses have closed in the Yacht Harbor mall.

The road to Nail Bay was a little better this time although there's still some construction on it and they keep saying that it will be "completed" one of these days.

There didn't seem to be as quite many sailboats cruising around this year during our stay.

The new airport was a nice change. The front section is huge and has all the checkin desks, but is not airconditioned. Fortunately it is positioned to catch a little more wind than the old one and we discovered that the departure lounge IS airconditioned. Dump any matches and lighters since those will be confiscated along with anything that might have a point on it (including BIC pens!) I have to wonder if someone doesn't have a side business in Road Town selling used lighters and pens!

The old one lane Queen Elizabeth Bridge is still there (and REALLY about to fall in)... the new bridge is completed but the story goes that they forgot to buy land leading to it on either side! Until that is sorted out, I suppose the new bridge might be a good place to fish!

Half the days were cloudy and we had more rain than usual in April, however, all the BVI looked green and lush because of that.
