So, we are newbies and have only posted once. We need some advice. Coming down sailing and have to rearrange our plans, is it possible/advisable to sail from Jost Van Dyke to the North Sound? How long would it take on a sailing cat? Winds look generally coming out of the east.
Thanks for all your help. Wheels up on May 26th and sailing Lom Dee from Captains Compass.

Just fire up the twin iron genny's and go. Depending on the boat, figure 5-6 Kts boat speed. This way you'll get there in time for dinner.

It really depends on the weather. Strong Winds on the nose, would be slow. winds well south of SE could be nice sailing. No wind, your motoring and it's an easy trip.

To add ... its approx. 23 nautical miles taking the northerly route from Great Harbour, JVD to Gorda Sound via known waypoints. So that's about 4 hours under power assuming 6 knots (speed over ground). Not an issue in my opinion. Thanks - Mark
