Hello all....I've got a few questions below
There is a slight chance my wife and I would be able to step away and visit the islands for a 6-day land-based trip later next week. We'd be traveling light (packs) and could use points on STT and/or Scrub.
A couple of questions. Where would you stay on JVD for one night (cheapish). Maybe a step or two above the cabins at Ivan's?
We haven't spent night on VG before so thinking a night or 2 there maybe? Any reasonably priced 1/2 night accommodations suggestions?
I read the last land-based trip report and it looked pretty neat...I like the idea of heading to Anegada on ferry and spending night there, but that'd eat up some valuable time....
I'd just like to hear from those of you that have done this....we would prefer to be on water, but with just 2 of us, I think price-wise, it's just too much...especially with hotel points.
Any do-s/don't-s?
Any/all comments appreciated.

Ordinarily you probably wouldn't be able to find anywhere on JVD that would do a 1-night stay, but since you're almost booking "last minute", Sea Crest Inn would probably make an exception if they have empty rooms. Same with Ali Baba's. Price is right and you're right in Great Harbor. Leverick is always a great choice on VG, but with the Poker Run I'd imagine they're booked up solid. I've also stayed at Mango Bay, right on the beach, but it's pricier and I think they also have a 3-night minimum? Felix

I agree with Mal. Heck, I don't move that much in 6 weeks much less 6 days.

There are lots of other accommodation on VG that won't be affected by the poker run - eg, bay view apartments, Fisher's Cove , M&M apartments cheers Brian

We typically sail as well. This was my second land based trip in the BVI's over 20+ years and I would not hesitate doing it again but staying 1 place makes it SO much easier. We would be busy 1 day and take it easy and relaxing the next so we didn't require a vacation from our vacation when we returned home. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you...but you'll be back! and So will WE! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

We've done the island hopping for two weeks, which inspired us to start sailing. For six days I would stick with one place. Day trips from STT to St. John, Jost and Tortola are easy and Virgin Gorda is possible. Ferries, excepting St. John, will add up.
For Scrub, you will spend a lit of time getting to the ferries.
Cheers, RickG
