Great for a fall day! Apples and Cheddar go great together! YUMMMMM!
[color:"blue"]Apple-Cheddar Bread[/color] Ingredients 2/3 cup white sugar 2 cups self-rising flour 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup margarine, melted 2 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and finely chopped 1/2 cup shredded Ex-Sharp Cheddar cheese 1/4 cup milk
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. 2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon walnuts, apples, and cheese. 3. Add the eggs, melted butter or margarine, and milk; stir until well blended. Pour into prepared loaf pan. 4. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, or until done. If loaf starts to brown too much, cover with foil.

Brian, I am always disappointed with the extra-sharp cheddar available in local supermarkets... what brand do you buy?

Our local Stop & Shop gets their own NY Cheddar, and cuts it up and then wraps it... Very Good...
Much better and a lot cheaper than name brands...
I do like Cabots Horseraddish Cheddar...

Used to love the Stop & Shop Extra Sharp NY Cheddar. One of the very best! And the horseradish cheddar? YUM!
Here on island we finally found a really nice aged sharp cheddar in Cost U Less.

A second vote for the cabot extra sharp! Also like hellavagood cheddar - favorite is from Shelburne farms but not widely available in most grocery stores
