Spent Thursday night at the Indigo Inn near the Buffalo Airport and ate in Buffalo at a place called Left Bank – the good dining started a day early!
Uneventful flight to JFK quite a wait and then on to SXM no lineup at arrival! Out to parking and Donico’s (Competition Car Rental) assistant took us to our rental car where we met Craig from Packlight with our chairs and umbrella for the week. Then off to Azure for Friday night and a wonderful afternoon on the beach. For a light dinner we went to Pineapple Pete’s – a good meal nothing outstanding but still good. Then off to Karacters for Friday Night Jazz or at least that is what we hoped for but unfortunately a word that will be repeated “Rain”!
Saturday morning off to Sapphire to check in and then over to Mullet Bay and a great lunch from Rosie’s and a beautiful day on the beach and then back to Sapphire. A few problems but it is still a great location and a wonderful view. Then off to Gutside for a wonderful meal – Pat had shrimp and fish while I had ribs and chicken – just great! This was our first time for supper at Gutside – we had been there for a TTOL party about three years ago and just never timed it right oh well it was worth the wait.
Sunday woke up to a really stormy view with the waves just crashing all over – no discussion today off to Orient and a great day with some threatening clouds. This evening we went to The Greenhouse for Happy Hour and appetizers and then the rain came and came. No burning head at BBB this night.
Monday woke up to a sh**ty outlook. Finally around noon we said what the heck and decided to try Orient, got there and it was quite nice set up the umbrella started to read how to improve my golf game and the rain started again! Oh well time to pack up and make our way back – it seemed to let up so we went to The Driftwood to watch the planes come in and were treated to one heck of a water show the wave were crashing up onto the road! Then to make things even more interesting we got to watch a fool try to walk along what was left of the shoreline from Maho to The Driftwood – he finally turned back, thank goodness. Then the rain started yet again and really came down – oh well time to go home. Good news TTOL is now available at the Sapphire! Then another long overdue trip to Mark’s Place for supper, oh why did we wait so long? Good food EXCELLENT value. Just as we were leaving the “R” word again yup it just poured! Oh well a good reason to call it a night – hopefully we will see more sun for the rest of the week.
Tuesday morning – a beautiful sun and clear sky . . . . this will be continued
