1st extended visit to SXM. Stayed at Club O. Spent all days except one on the beach, with beautiful weather, cooling breezes, refreshing surf, the perfect companion, and a cooler full of refreshments! Life is so good!

Rented a car one day to go in to town to shop for jewelry. Also went in to Grand Case one evening and had dinner at Le Tastevin. What a pretty setting! Our table (maybe all the tables) was on a balcony overlooking the water, and when it got dark we could see the lights of Anguilla in the distance. The nouvelle French cuisine was good, but, I thought, a little overpriced. The green salad was $10! The total bill (for a non-alcoholic drink, salad, entree, dessert, and coffee for two) was $96US! We ate dinner most nights at Papagayos, where the food was consistently good and more reasonably priced. Dinner there usually ran us between $40-50.

Now I understand why so many people on TTOL are frequent visitors to SXM. We arrived on Sat; on Sun. we were talking about trying to come back next summer; on Tues. we were trying to figure out a way to get back this coming winter!! Then, when we saw the bargain fares offered by USAIR to return between Sept 2 and Dec 15, our time frame changed again!!!

And instead of feeling sad that we were leaving SXM, we left feeling very relaxed, and knowing that this was definitely not our last trip to SXM and Club O.
