Sorry, just felt the need for a little diversion from the hurricane threads.

So, as SXM recovers and rebuilds, do you have any other destinations in mind to get your 'beach fix'?

We were booked to return to SXM in December after a 4 year hiatus, and very much looking forward to this trip. Now we are looking at other destinations for a mid-winter getaway. Would be interested in hearing from our SXM fan base as to what other islands are on your short list.

TIA

We have gone to SXM...specifically Club orient since 2000...We are booked for April....but realistically ...It is just not going to be possible and as sad as that reality makes me...I guess we will will go to couples san souci in Jamaica instead. It is certainly no replacement for Club O but there are not a lot of C/O choices....

We will pray that we can return in April 2019.....

Seems that most of the places we have either done a cruise stop or visited that we loved the most were ravaged by Irma. We love St John. Were intrigued by a cruise stop in Antigua, would have loved to try Turks, so we are kinda screwed here. The one place we have visited both by cruise stop and for a week was Curacao. Loved it all 3 times. That may be a fill in. Not in love with Aruba.

The Costa del Sol in Spain. The cost of an apartemente in Vera Playa is $50-75 a night and that offsets the extra cost of the airfare. While not a mid winter destination but its certainly a Spring to Fall destination. Both textile and naturist accommodations/zones.

I want to clarify something...we go to SXM every April...we also travel several times the rest of the year...We are booked for a three week European cruise next week...a week vacation at couples San souci in December....a 10 day Disney world vacation next may 2018 and a two week south american cruise in November 2018....

we go to SXM every April...and while we are very sad...we have plenty of other vacations throughout the year

Sounds like Couples San Souci has a c/o pool and beach. What are they like?

CSS is a nice place...but it is not C/O...it has a nude pool and nude beach and nude hot tub...until 5 pm...at which time the beach is open to everyone for beautiful sunsets

it is not ST martin...it is an all inclusive Jamaican resort

The food is ok...the service is ok.

We stay in building A or B which are closest to the nude beach and pool...and the rooms are very very nice

but if you are used to leaving your room at club o naked and staying that way...this is different. You wear clothes to get to the beach...and when you leave the beach you put your clothes back on.

You go to dinner dressed...you sit on your balcony or patio dressed.

Is it acceptable? yes is it Club orient? no

I would like to add...for many years..we have gone to club o in April and Jamaica in November...and we love both places. But they are entirely different vacations...which is why we love to go to both

We have never been anywhere that is like club orient...which is our very favorite

that does not mean there are not other enjoyable places...it means that they are different

If we could only have one nude vacation a year...we would choose club orient

but that does not mean that other places are not wonderful

Thank you for the information!
We've been going to Club O since 1991 and realize they very likely will not be ready for visitors in February.

We had been booked for SXM on the 14th of October but are now booked for Curacao, at the only clothing-optional resort in the ABC islands.... "The Natural Curacao." It's a bit inland, but has incredible views and is a 13 minute walk to the beach or a 2 minute car ride. They rent cars right on their property by the way. And they have a clothing optional cruise that they do. Also, even though the beaches on Curacao are not clothing optional, they say that they advise their guests where it is appropriate to sunbathe nude, as long as the locals are not at the beach. Plenty of secluded areas on the beaches, apparently. Our bungalow is beautiful. Can't wait and Curacao is basically not in the hurricane belt. (Fingers crossed on that one!)
