My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at Braco. This was our 2nd visit there. The last time we were there it was called BRaco Village and it was not owned by Superclubs at the time. The AU Naturel side was under construction and originally was going to be a family resort.

We left ATL on Air Jamaica's first flight out. Everything was on time. We breezed through customs and immigration.
We were on our bus to Braco within 15 minutes of checking in at the Superclubs desk.

We arrived about an hour late after the obligatory stop for drinks. We booked a Run of house room category and I fully expected a gardenview room. Our room number was 311 and upon looking at the map of the resort it appeared that would be at least an oceanview room. The people checking in next to us booked a gardenview and wanted to know if there were an oceanview room to upgrade. The lady at the desk told them that normally there was a charge, but that she would check what was available. She came back and said that they would have an oceanview room. Of course, my husband still does not realize where our room is and thinks it is also gardenview so he pipes in that he wants an oceanview room too. I kind of kicked him under the table because I knew that our room was better than what he thought. Imagine our surprise when we get escorted to our rooms and the other couple is in the 2nd row of buildings and probably has to lean over their balcony to even see the ocean and then our room is on the first floor not oceanview, but BEACHFRONT! We walk into our room and out onto the patio to see that the beach is a mere 20 yards from our room! Great location since it is close to everything. Our bags had already been delivered to our room as well.

We quickly unpack and change into swimsuits to get some lunch. We head to Nanny's jerk pit for some jerk chicken and rice. Way too much food on my plate for us to finish, but it was so good and fast service.
We visited the vendors selling their goods on the beach and imagine my husbands surprise to find the same man selling wood carvings that was there 5 yrs ago! My husband even remembered his name because he had specially carved a car for him the last time and engraved his name in it. We still have that car on top of our entertainment center. This man remembered my husband as well and of course he had to purchase a few things from him again.
FYI- Braco allows vendors to come on the beach and sell their goods, but they are not allowed to be pushy at all. This is a very nice thing since you can browse at will and never feel pressured to buy anything.
We wandered down to the end of the beach where there is a hot tub and bar and 24 hour clubhouse. This is where the 24 hour room service runs from. There is no one but us down there so we get in the hot tub for a few minutes to relax.
Since we arrived on a Friday- this was the night of the street party. We changed for dinner and made our way to the village. There were so many tables of food that we wandered around for about 10 minutes trying to decide where to start! We found a table and had salads, fruit, and other things. My husband had about 5 desserts! At this point we are so tired from having had about 5 hours of sleep the night before, getting up at 4am and traveling that we end up going back to the room. We missed the street party and were asleep my 10pm. Fine by me since we are here to rest and relax without the kids .

The next day he had ordered continental breakfast room service. It was actually delivered about 15 minutes earlier than we asked for , but it was fine. lots of pastries, fruit, cofee and juice and sitting out on the patio watching the ocean was a great way to start the day.
My husband finds it necessary to go to Ocho Rios today so he talks to the concierge to hire a driver to take us. We do not want to go with the tour bus so that we can leave when we want. The drivers comes at 1pm and drives us into Ochie. He is very nice and very laid back. He takes us to the shopping center and is there waiting for us when we ask him to. On the way back we stop at a jerk stand for some authentic Jamaican jerk pork. Oh my goodness- this was the highlight! We had seen this on the travel channel and so my husband is so excited! For about $3 we get a half pound of Jerk Pork hot off the coals and some bread. This was amazing! So good.

We get back to the resort and hang out a while. While getting showered and changed for dinner we decide to order room service for a snack- cheeseburgers and potato skins and a bottle of wine. Of course we were not hungry for dinner , so we just head out to the bar. They are having casino/70's night . There are several tables set up for guests to play blackjack with the entertainment staff. They give you chips to play with and if you win you get some rum or a t-shirt.
The Palm reader King Majesty is there that night as well. If you ever get the chance- Have him read your palm and cards. For $20 he does this for you. Now 5 years ago he had read our palms and cards as well- the same guy. Of course the skeptic that I am , I go over to see what he has to say this time. Last time he told me some things that no one except my husband knows and also some other general things that had actually come true ( is- having a 2nd child who would be a boy, buying a new house, etc) . Well he amazed me again. He told me almost verbatim the exact same thing again! I did not tell him that he had a 2nd child on purpose just to see what he would say. He did know that we had a son and also a daughter. He also knew things like I have lower back pain and the exact location, among other things. Pretty cool. He does not tell you anything bad.

The next day I spent lounging in the pool on a float while hubby slept in. Chatted with some very nice people. Had a pedicure at 2. Hung out some more in the pool, then at the clubhouse bar. Dinner was a Munahana . Was pretty good. Our tablemates were interesting to say the least. Food was good , but they only had one dessert which was green tea ice cream- sounded gross. So we passed. Went to the main bar and listened to the show playing at the Victoria Market. Chatted with some people we had met and went to bed.
Next day was our last day and since we were on Air Jamaica we had to have our bags out by 7am and get pre checked in at 8am. They come to the resort , check your bags, even have airport security there to check your bags, give you boarding passes, collect airport departure tax if your ticket does not include it ( bulk fare tickets do not) , and tell you to be ready to leave at 3pm for our 5pm flight. This is awesome. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and were dropped at the airport at approx 415pm and went straight to the gate to get on the plane. They were boarding when we got there.
Overall a great, relaxing weekend just as we wanted. This is a great resort that I highly recommend .
