Since this was about our 40th trip to SXM, I figured it’s about time to post a short trip report.

Flew Continental out of EWR, on Friday 3/11, returned Friday, 3/25. No issues either way.

[color:"blue"]Accommodations[/color]
We own at Divi, weeks 11 & 12. Been going there since before Divi bought it. (1983 was our first trip). The place overall was probably the best it’s looked in a while. The small beach still has a lot of rocks from last year’s storms, but they plan to have sand brought in after this year’s hurricane season. The main beach was clean, plenty of sand and no problems entering/leaving the water. Condo was in good shape, nothing broken or damaged. Grounds are well kept with lots of flowers/bushes blooming. Divi has added about 6 new Jacuzzi’s around the resort. All were working and looked clean, as well as the pools.

[color:"blue"]Car Rental[/color]
Used Thrifty as usual, as they are right on site. Booked online and was not charged for second driver. No car issues over the 2 weeks.

[color:"blue"]Dining[/color]
We went out to dinner every night, except for one. Ate at: Toucan’s Restaurant (Divi), La Belle Epoque (2x), Bavaria (new for us, was pretty good), Don Camillo, Auberge Gourmande (Harmony Nights), Chesterfield’s, IZI (new also, was good too), Granduca, Pineapple Pete’s, La Gondola, Bistro Nu and our traditional last night dinner at Mario’s Bistro.

[color:"blue"]Shopping[/color]
One Saturday afternoon shopping in Phillipsburg. Ralph Lauren Polo store, Lazarre Avenue (men’s shirts), Linen Galore for tablecloth’s, browsed thru a couple more, then a few drinks on the boardwalk and off to dinner. Couple of times in Marigot,. Coup De Cour, Laguna Blue and quite a few other shops in the area.

We had 2 excellent weeks, with the weather being as good as it could be. Traffic was not as bad as usual and had no crime issues (luckily, we have never experienced any over the years). Island looks cleaner, but is starting to get very dry, due to no rain. Thinking about a possible trip for New Year’s.
