Just got back from 2 weeks at Divi Little Bay (Nov 2010). We have been members for 8 years and always enjoy our trips there. We'd like to send out some kudos and note significant improvements this year from previous years. There is a new General Manager who we had the opportunity to talk to a couple of times. He seems very energetic and devoted to improving the resort and he is making a difference.

Improvements:
The front desk staff seems to be much more professional, friendly, and efficient than what we've encountered in years past. Sandra has always been good and continues to shine at the front desk.

Roger, a bellmen, also provides an excellent first impression. He is friendly and doesn't make you think he's being put out by helping you.

The GM is working on improving the fare at Toucan's restaurant. We ate there for the first time in a few years and it was better. Still, since there are so many fabulous restaurants on the island, we would certainly recommend trying out some other places on the island.

Dwight at the water sports desk did an excellent job working with us in the pool with an intro to Scuba course. He was very patient and helpful. My wife had significant fear about trying scuba. But after watching him with another student, she decided to try it. She was VERY pleased with his patience and persistence.

WiFi is now available in the rooms! Yay, this is something we had asked for for years. It is a for-pay system $50/week, $84 for 2 weeks. The free WiFi in the Member's Lounge is gone. According to the GM, this price may go down in the future as the initial cost of the system is paid off. The only drawback is that when you pay, you get a login that ties access to your MAC address. This means that only 1 laptop can be used per login and I did not see any way to log off to permit a different MAC address to log in.

Downsides:
The sand from the beach closest to the Seabreeze pool bar is completely gone from the hurricanes. The beach by Gizmo's is fine. Apparently there are plans to truck in sand to restore the beach. Not sure exactly when that will happen.

We did experience 1 day without water due to a pipe break and electricity was out on the Dutch side for half that same day. Really just have to chalk that up to life in the Caribbean.

A final comment on the resident colony of cats at Divi Little Bay. There are about 20 feral cats on the property. Management has signs posted about not feeding the cats although we have it on good authority that that is mostly to keep the cats from congregating in the restaurant areas or on specific balconies. We have been feeding the cats cat food from the store along the sea walls for years and the staff has always been ok with that. The staff also feeds them in various places on the property. We are animal lovers and enjoy the interaction with the cats while feeding them. Others do as well. We did run into some people who were so offended by the fact that some cats were outside their balcony that they took to throwing buckets of water and then using a water pistol from their second floor balcony to chase them off. We did confront them and they just didn't like the cats. They weren't allergic or phobic. If you are considering going to this resort and you don't like animals then I would suggest you go elsewhere. The cats live there and you are just visiting. You should respect that.

In good news the cats are in good shape and the management has been working to catch and get them spayed & neutered. We support and encourage that to maintain a healthy colony. There is still one big tom that so far has managed to avoid capture.
