We had the best vacation ever! Our 2nd trip to paradise(first was 2005)! Enjoyed the many posts on here and thought I'd return the favor and share our experience.
Stayed at La Plantation and the resort and staff were great.
Friday - Arrived from CLT mid afternoon. Meet Lesley at airport for car and headed to 'home'. Checked in and spent afternoon on Orient. 1 late rain shower. Ate dinner on beach.
Saturday - Spent all day on Orient. There were several 5 -10 min showers that ran us for cover but the sun was great between. Wife was getting ill and worried that the weather was not going to cooperate with her plans of all day, every day sunning. Orient was fairly busy compared to our trip 5 years previous but still very pleasurable. The surf and wind were about normal for our experiences here. Not bad at all but constant. Returned to the room and was able to watch (sound didn't come thru)our Auburn Tigers beat LSU!Dinner at Cote Plages. Very good start to week.
Sunday - Another day at Orient with lunch from Bikini Beach. Went to Grand Case for dinner watching the sunset. Food was good but not our flavor this time. Never know about new tastes until you try - just wasnt our win this time! Atmosphere and service were great.
Monday - After a couple wrong turns we found Mullet. This quickly became our new favorite beach. The surf was virtually non-existant and the water as clear as a swimming pool. The lolos here are also good. Belly full with minimal $ spent! We could share a combo plate and both of us were satisfied until dinner for 15 dollars. This is probably the most relaxed we have been in 15 years! PERFECT. For dinner we returned to La Plantation for Monday lobster night. It was the perfect way to end a great day.
Tuesday - Our original plan was a day trip to St Barts but decided for Pinel Island instead. We are now confident with our choice being the right one. Loved the island. It turned out to be much more economical then we expected Barts to be and we enjoyed ourselves greatly. Food, beach and weather was wonderful. Did get a little crowded when cruise excursions showed up but was good for people watching! Early and late was not crowded at all. Decided to try lobster thermidor at Pineapple Pete's for supper. That is the richest lobster I ever ate. Very good.
Wednesday - Spent the morning at the Marigot market with lunch at Enoch's. After making our purchases we went to check out Friars Bay. It looked good but the surf was up and we went back to our new favorite - Mullet. Returned to Grand Case and spent an hour trying to decide where to eat. Finally decided and enjoyed the evening.
Thursday - Headed to P'burg for the all important Guavaberry. Wife also window shopped diamonds. Now I know what she wants but knows we cant afford. Soaked in Mullet again and ate pizza at Orient village.
Friday - Spent the morning at Orient before heading back to the airport. Sucks when you have to leave! Especially when airline leaves you stranded in CLT overnight. But as my wife says now "That was the greatest vacation EVER!" Can't wait to return and can only hope it will not be 5 years this time. Never felt unsafe or threatened. As a matter of fact, we were real impressed with the new, well lit parking lot at Grand Case. Weather was great except for quick showers the first 2 days. It only rained at night the other days. Mosquitos were not as bad as expected. Kenny's car rental was very easy and convinent. Staff at La Plantation are the best!
