Crew of 4 from West Michigan (we had snow before and since our trip) just back from 6 day charter with The Moorings. As was our first time to sail in the islands we chose a flotilla that included a fleet of 11 with a guide boat. Because of high demand for that week there were 2 flotillas of that size following different itineraries. Our stops included Marina Cay, Anegada, Virgin Gorda; the Baths and Leverick Bay, Jost Van Dyke; White Bay and Great Harbour, Cane Garden Bay and The Bight at Norman Island.
Our 402 CC yacht was in great condition with all amenities as advertised. The completeness of supplies and furnishings were very much more than adequate. The mechanic aboard the guide boat assisted us a few times with needed repairs - that included an "airlock" in water tank, and a little more serious, a broken gear shift cable. Until replacement part was available he rigged something for the 1st mate to manually adjust at the engine compartment. Oh how glad I was to have a capable friend along to take my place (the wife of captain[Linked Image]).
We were in awe of the beauty of the landscape both above and below us. Great weather - hot [Linked Image] great wind[Linked Image] and just a little rain accompanied us each day.
Our visits ashore for meals, drinks and supplies were all super. Dinner at Leverick's Bay Resort was our favorite meal. Drinks and live band at Elm Beach Bar was great - went on till quite late, we "heard" - from our boat! And on the subject of "drinks" have to say that our crew of 4 didn't take to the painkillers as many posters do....just a preference but still tried one at each stop! We are pretty happy with just a plain rum and coke[Linked Image].
Have thoroughly enjoyed the message boards and trip reports here at TTOL.
A return trip is definitely in order for this crew.
Deb, Capt.
