23 Dec. 2011
Dan and I went ashore to pickup a few things before heading off to Mystique. The sail the was lively, with the winds topping out at well over 30 knots. Skyelark cut through the water with ease, and as the sails were well balanced, it was very easy to manage the helm. Our original plan was to stop at Petite Nevis, a Skyelark tradition, but again that pesky swell had a different idea. The landing area for the dingy is challenging enough during nice weather, but with the swell running as it was it would have been impossible. We powered around the south side of the island and headed for the playground of the rich and famous. If God vacations in the Tobaga Cays, those with more money than God stay in Mystique. There were a few very nice yachts in the anchorage including a 58 metre sailing yacht and a classic gaff rigged schooner.

One of the beautiful villas on Mystique
We arrived early enough to grab a well protected mooring ball then had a quick swim from the boat before some lunch aboard. Tony had brought some very nice Italian Sausages (Dashs Market for all you buffalo people) and cooked them up with onions and peppers.

Having a swim on Christmas Eve
We took the dingy to shore and walked down towards the salt ponds, there were a lot of Gopher Turtles walking about and also a small herd of goats.

Along the beach
We all met up at Basil’s for drinks then back out to the boat for a swim.

Having a drink at Basils
Tony again prepared a delicious meal for us, this time a shrimp stir fry, with some shrimp I brought down and a large assortment of fresh local veggies. The remainder of the evening was spent in the cockpit, enjoying some beers, rum punch and the music coming from Basil’s on shore.
