24 Dec. 2011
We awoke to another beautiful morning, I took my morning dip and then had some breakfast. I made my signature morning meal of corned beef hash and eggs, probably one of the few palatable things you can do with canned corned beef. The plan today was to visit Macaroni Beach on the other side of the island. We had tried to reserve a mule (glorified golf cart) for the day however they were all taken so we would be hoofing it around the island. The younger, more adventurous crew members chose to take the long way around the island, while us more worldly members opted for the short cut across the island. We took a detour to the Cotton House to see Rodger off on his diving trip.

The walk was pleasant and brought us past many very posh villas. The beach was nice and had a good crowd, the breakers were rolling in but we enjoyed body surfing and just lying around in the sun.

After a while we all went back to the Cotton House to meet Rodger and had lunch at the beach restaurant. I went for the fish burger, a fresh mahi fillet on a roll, served with cole slaw and seasoned fries; with two Coronas, water tax and tip it was $50 US. The service and setting were very good, but the food while good was nothing to write home about.
Back onboard, the others decided to visit Basil’s Beach Bar, a Caribbean icon, while I stayed on the boat to organize my photos and work on my trip report. Christmas Eve dinner was a special treat, Tony had brought some farm raised venison for the trip so we had steaks with my shrimp & macaroni salad. Em’s mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. After dinner we retired to the cockpit to star gaze while enjoying the last of the Chairmens Reserve that we had onboard.
