We're looking at the above cruise on Seaborn. It departs from Kobe, Japan, visits two ports in Japan, one in Russia, and then crosses the Pacific Ocean to Kodiak. From there it visits Glacier Bay and continues down the inside passage to Vancouver, BC. Has anyone on the forum done this cruise?

I don't have any knowledge on that particular cruise, but just curious, I didn't know whether you all have been on a cruise before? If not, a 21 day cruise seems kind of long to me, in case you don't like it. And those are all relatively small vessels. Not a huge amount to do on the ocean crossing, and I would do some checking about how rough to expect the ocean to be on that crossing. With regard to ATLANTIC crossings, I know that the time of year also figures in a great deal, as to how rough it can be. Glacier Bay is magnificent and Vancouver is a beautiful city. The rest of the ports I have no knowledge of at all. If you do decide to book the cruise, PLEASE do it through a travel agent and not directly with the cruise line.

Thank you Carol. Yes, we have cruised, but it's been quite a few years. We're just in the very early planning stages right now. And yes, we'll definitely use an agent.

I've always wanted to do Seabourn, but never wanted to fork out the money! I'm sure it would be a lovely cruise.

Yeah, I get that. It's a bit hard to get past, but we feel like the value would be there. We're trying very hard to spend our childrens' inheritance before we're too old to enjoy travel, lol. That said, we looked at this trip in further detail and have decided it's not the one for us. Back to square one. This trip is to celebrate our milestone birthdays (65 for David and 70 for me).

I truly get spending the children's inheritance. Hope you find another trip that is better suited to you

Thanks Carol. We're back to looking at a safari. Totally opposite of a cruise, but it's been on my bucket list for quite a while. The Alaska cruise will end up being a shorter trip at a later date.

Now a safari we have done! Highly recommended! We did Wilderness Safaris in Botswana. A trip of a lifetime! Our trip reports are in the trip report forum, although I don't know whether the pictures are broken or not. Edit--most of them are there. Hereis the link to the first section of the report, which is VERY long, if you're interested.
