Booked flights to St Maarten yesterday for 7 days over Memorial Day weekend. It's a big B-day for hubby, so we bit the bullet!
The crazy and risky part is that we are going down on American Airlines, and back on Delta. If American messes up the flights and times to make it unworkable at all ( I do NOT do overnights, or any travel longer than 7-8 hours) I'm on the hook with the Delta flights.
We just really want to be there. We will volunteer some, and I hope to be able to take donations down.
Cannot wait to see friends.

If your American flights are through MIA, you're probably ok.

Hope everything works out great for you!! That said, I hope that regardless you endure what needs to be done to get there.. People who live on island need us tourists to be there, to help them recover from everything that they have had to endure.

My husband is a horrible traveler and I convinced him to go for 2 weeks. Our JB flights we not terrible but not the luxury of the direct flight from Boston. Driving from the airport to SBR he looked at me and smiled and said he was glad he came. He didn't even complain about the 4 hour layover coming back via JFK. We got home at 1 am but he would go back in a minute. Totally worth it. We had a great 2 weeks.

Yes Georgia, down thru Miami and back via Atlanta. I feel better now that you said that! Used miles on American as they have raised prices but not required miles. Hey Lesley...let’s talk car!

Agreed, the Miami flights on AA seem to be the only ones that they are not messing around with.

They have consolidated all there flights into one which bumped some travelers out of seats. We lost our business class seats we paid for to be put in economy as there isn't enough seats to accomodate all the booked seats into one flight out on Mia. Looks like it is going to happen on our return too.

I assume you were compensated for that change, Scubaman? Yes. But not without going through 3 supervisors and 2 disconnected calls. Felt they could have done morr.
