My wife and I are anxiously awaiting a return to SXM. We truly miss it.

RT tickets are over $1100 for September! Why? We have paid $650 or so but that is just not acceptable. It does not put any money back into their economy and just goes against the grain.

We are in the Cincinnati area. Hopefully Southwest is going to start going there.

Friends who flew out of CVG in March got air on Delta for around $650. I am near Dayton and I am seeing $800 plus and up to the fare you are seeing.

I agree, this does not help the SXM economy but unless you are in the metro NYC area, air is tough.

No kidding. Try and get decent rates from the West coast.

Totally understand and agree. It is not a good or easy situation now. It was never that great to begin with but since Irma, it is even worse.

Right. Currently only one plane a day coming or going in or out of SXM to MIA. They consolidated all the MIA and CLT flights to SXM into one daily flight out of MIA. Our May/June trip was severely affected.

This probably looks like showing off, but SFO-ATL-ANU (it's about the same to SXM) on Delta we paid 206pp ow, and could have had it $25 cheaper by going basic coach.
Return is SXM-MIA-SFO for $216, of which $98 is taxes and fees, so AA gets $118. I'm not complaining at all.

Airfare is really tough. We did Spirit (king of add-ons) May 26-June 2.

Chicago-Ft Lauderdale-SXM We are overnighting in Fort Lauderdale.

Prepaid our bags and choose first class (2) seats per row and ended up at $750 per seat. It wasn't cheap but all fees paid.

Last year when I paid for a first class seat from Portland, OR, to SXM, it was around $800. This year, the prices are around $2,2xx for one person. There was one day it was down to $1,4xx, but I wasn't positive I was going at that time. It was back up to $2,2xx the next day. One day last week it went down to $1,6xx, and I jumped on it. Back up to $2,2xx ever since. Ridiculous.

We did ours for around $800 for first class with AA on our return back in JUly. It was supposed to be returning on the 8:30 am flight to MIA putting us back in SEA on same day. Now we have a 4:15 pm flight to MIA and overnight there plus they overbooked the FC so we can't get seat selection for the SXM/MIA leg. We had seats before but now we don't because of the consolidation of flights but they assured me that we will have a seat on the plain. Just don't know where and when we'll find out. Spent an hour on the phone with a supervisor today with no help.

No need to be sorry but ty anyway. I often use abbreviations that I assume are familiar to others only to ultimately find they have no clue what I’m talking about.

Depending on where you are from "RT" and "return" are often added at the end of the price so show what many refer to as "roundtrip".

Kind of like "pop" and "soda" or "coke".

Just got our tickets for Nov. 3-14th. $528.32 per person rt DTW - ATL - SXM reverse on return flight. Weird thing is just the night before these same flights were $758.00 pp rt. Go figure!

That is a very good deal. I just checked your exact dates out of Dayton OH (about 3 hours south of DTW) and it is coming up $1400 pp/rt for main cabin/coach. You got a very good deal, happy for you.

Edited to add: You are going down all in 1 day aren't you? I put your dates in just now from DTW and got around $1000 pp/rt but if you are willing to overnight in ATL on the way down it brought the fare down to $532.

I'm sorry, yes we do have a long lay over in ATL but for us it's not a problem. We go up to DTW and stay the night before our flight any ways. We usually leave on the 6 a.m. flight out of DTW and have to be at the airport by 4:30 a.m..

We have the same flight, but we're going for Christmas and New Year's. We paid around $1500.00 pp for a little extra leg room, which I need. The first time we visited SXM, we paid<$400.00 pp for a November trip--2004.
