I've been reading some pretty horrifying sounding political reports about South Africa.

see: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...seizure-anc-race-relations-a8234461.html

We're supposed to go there for a 10 day trip in July.
I'm a little spooked.

The State Department has a Level 2 warning on SA at the moment.
See: https://travel.state.gov/content/tr...untry-Information-Pages/SouthAfrica.html

I'm pretty comfortable traveling under a recommendation to "Exercise Increased Caution" but Level 3 and 4 warnings I would heed and cancel my vacation.

Does anyone see any reason to be more worried than I currently am?

My big concern for you is that 10 days is not enough for the distance and time to travel there. Like anywhere you travel, be prudent. Most likely you will head out to a game reserve and you won't even think about it again. Cape Town is a lovely town and the South Africans are great people, but there is A LOT of poverty. Just be prudent and do as the locals do, you pay someone a token amount to watch your car, don't over pay or you ruin it for the next guy.

SA is brewing up the race game.
They’re going to do what Zimbabwe did to the White farmers.
Its not pretty.
It my be interesting if you could charter a gunboat.

Thanks for the responses.
We'll be on a safari and the outfitter will pick us up at the airport and bring us to their lodge.
They will then take us back to the airport after 10 days.
So... we won't be "out on our own" at all... always under the care and supervision of a local.
