We left Dominica in the morning and headed off under blue skies for our next destination, Les Iles Des Saintes, Guadeloupe. We arrived in the afternoon, and a lot of the businesses were closed for their afternoon break. I headed over to Coconuts Bar, where I knew they had free wifi, the bar was also closed, but the wifi was on (the security code is coconuts). The supermarket next door was open so we bought some beers Then Kevin and Kim watched the town come alive again, while I posted my trip reports. Around 5:00pm the bar staff arrived and opened up for the evening so I ordered some drinks. I have been trying to learn a little French, but I still have a few issues. I ordered jus passion avek vodka, for Kim, but it must have come out doux passion avek vodka, but it’s always better to get two of the right drink than one of the wrong one. It wasn’t long before the place was hopping, with patrons dancing on the small dance floor and others standing out in the street.
Dan and Will came to use the wifi so we had a few more before going back to Skyelark for dinner.

The next morning we headed to shore for some pastries and coffee, you can’t beat the baked goods on the French islands, they are just fantastic. Kim, Will, and I had pain de chocolat; Kevin had a beer. We strolled through the quaint town, the streets of which are lined with small shops; there were many people walking around and it is reminiscent of a small seaside town in France. We then headed across the island to Plage de Pompierre, the nicest swimming beach on the island.

I have to give Kevin his due, he walked the whole way with no complaints even though his hip was giving him some problems. The beach here is tree lined, and there are small shelters with benches if you want to get out of the sun. Two barrier islands and a reef protect it from the Atlantic swells. There were many people swimming and snorkeling in the little bay. We wnet to a small snack stand for lunch and had some delicious chicken on baggettes. We meet Dan at the dingy dock at 3:00 pm as arraigned and went back to the boat for some of Dan’s famous chicken curry before starting off on our night passage to Nevis.
