I'm wondering if anyone who has been to Provence and Marseille found it necessary to use sunscreen (general use, not beach use).

I ask because in looking at a world map, Marseille is just about directly across from the southern tip of Nova Scotia. But because of the med. climate, I'm not sure just how strong the sun is.

In the summer, we use sunscreen. We live in Oslo which is north of Ancorage. I would have used sunscreen in Provence in the summer, but not in the winter. June, July, August Yes. September- April No. Provence is just north of New York. It's the same sun.
