I will try to do this in segments. Went to BVI for 10 days. Left Boston on 3/13 at 9:15 to San Juan with no hassles. I was a little concerned about the weight of our luggage because we were catching a flight on Air Sunshine from SJU to Beef Island. Our luggage was 4 lbs. over but we did not get charged. Flight was scheduled to leave at 5:30, we arrived in SJU at 1:30 but we got lucky and left for BI at 4:15 and arrived around 5 PM. This was my first time flying into SJU then puddle jumping to BVI. It was a good flight all in all but unless I am staying in VG, I will do the St. Thomas flight then ferry over. We stayed the first 3 nights on Tortola then the next 6 days at Sandcastle on JVD then back to Tortola for the final night because our flight was departing (or was suppose to) at 8 AM. I am really glad that I changed my flight out of SJU to 6:15 pm because our departure from Beef Island was delayed for 2 hours. By the way, my husband decided to stay home because the war was heating up and my son is a Marine stationed in the Mid East. We felt it best that one of us should stay home so I was very lucky that I was able to find someone to come with me. We had to change our flight plans at the last minute. It really took some manuvering to change both flights. Anyway, back to the good stuff.

Day 1: Arrived early in Tortola and was met by Veronica of D&D car rentals. I highly recommend them. We dropped her off in Road Town then headed to WE and met with Judy and followed her to Crow's Nest above Jolly Roger. What an incredible view looking out at Soper's Hole! The cottage is so adorable. It is a one bedroom cottage with a galley kitchen and an wide open outdoor shower. Very private, too. Standing in the bedroom looking out is a very large sliding glass door. The deck is large. Part of the deck was covered and had a table with two comfortable wicker chairs, the other half was open and had a jacuzzi which really was great after the long day of traveling. It was around 9 PM when we finally got a chance to eat. Jolly Roger was closing and the only thing we could get was pizza. After, we went back to the cottage and sat in the jacuzzi for about an hour then went to sleep.
Day 2: Got up around 9, had coffee on the deck then went to the Shell Museum for breakfast. It is everything I expected. Should not be missed! The directions cracked me up. We were told to go past two churched then after the second speed bump take a right. Only in the BVI! [Linked Image] We did some putting around then spent the rest of the day at Smuggler's Cove. My girlfriend decided she wanted to try her hand at driving. Anyone here that has traveled the back road from Smuggler's to WE knows what the road is like. It can be kind of scary the first time, but once you get the hang of it and respect the driving conditions, it's no problem. Kristen got kind of cocky because she was doing so well and felt is was easy. Well, when driving on that dirt road from Smuggler's to WE, the driveway to Crow's Nest is a right U-turn. Anyone familiar with that area knows how narrow the roads are and there are no guard rails. She thought she would be able to make it without backing up and tried to do it with one move. We got stuck on the ledge and if the car had rolled one hair, we would have been swimming in Soper's Hole. Luckily for us one of the neighbors was coming up the hill and got us out of the jam. Needless to say, Kristen did not drive again. We went to eat that night across the street from Bomba's then went over to the shack for one more punch.
Day 3: Had breakfast at that place in back of Soper's Hole (I forget the name) was very good. Picked up snorkeling gear and headed over to Brewer's Bay. The view of BB coming over the hill is incredible! That night we went to Palm's Delight and had their wonderful Ginger Chicken.
Will be back with more report later. In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Marilyn
