Tuesday, July 31st -- Our tenth day on the island:

Good evening from Mont Vernon:

This morning started out the same way yesterday evening ended -- Raining, in fact torrential downpours at times. It didn’t look good. So after making coffee, and sitting on the balcony wondering if today was going to another total bust as far as a beach day goes, I decided it was still better than being at work.

So we prepared our breakfast of ham, eggs, and cheese, on a toasted bagel, with coffee. As we ate, watching the rain come down, we decided we were going to do something, we just didn’t know what. So while we were trying to figure it out, a movie started, on HBO, and we started watching it. It wasn’t too long, with the sound of the surf and the rain, that the movie faded away, and we were both sound asleep.

When we woke from our morning slumber, the movie was well over, and the skies were slowly clearing. With this welcomed sight, we decided that we would walk down the beach, and see what was going on. Life was slowly coming back to Orient Beach, as people, who like us, had been holed up for a day and a half started appearing on the beach.

While most of the bars were closed, a few were open, but most were devoid of customers. We end up at the Perch, and enjoyed some of Willie’s concoctions as we discussed options for dinner. In the end, Dinghy Bar won out, and we headed “home” to clean up and get ready for dinner.

After another, great steak, and a couple of drinks, we headed back to the studio in anticipation of sunny skies for the last three days of our stay.

As we were sitting on the balcony, after returning from dinner the moon was peaking out from behind the clouds. A promising sight indeed:
