– 23 June Part 2

June – Sunday, Checked in at Divi Little Bay around 3:30 Dinner at Belair Hotel adjacent to Divi.

June - Monday, Up early, went shopping in Philipsburg as there was no ships in today. Made our way to Royal Jewelers on Front St, and met with Vince whom we have been dealing with for about 10 years. Fay had her old wedding band with her. Needless to say we found a beautiful blue diamond ring with a round diamond set on each side of this stone. This combination of stones was cut from this ring and reset into her wedding band. Somehow a blue diamond pendant with a diamond in the gold setting made its way into the final purchase as did a multi-stone necklace with small colored sapphire stones. Vince always provides excellent service and we feel his prices are always fair and reasonable. Appraisals back at home always validate this claim. Trust is very important in purchasing jewelry these days. After lunch went back to pick up the ring, all we can say, is WoW. After 42 years with my sweetheart, smiles were the reaction of the day. Shopping for some souvenirs (dresses, bags, bracelets, etc for the granddaughters. Back to Divi for beach time. Divi had a hail party for new guests, snacks, beer, wine and rum drinks for free. Dinner at Belair for all you can eat ribs and chicken, salads, deserts all for $20. They offer this every Monday night. Charlie is a very good chef and a cold Coors insures plenty of ribs come my way. Great music (Steel band) during dinner.

June - Tuesday, Morning beach time Divi. Went over to Select Wines in Orange Grove. Did wine tasting and left with a bottle of Berlin champagne, very good, around $30. Lunch at Le Champange, next door. Ordered two ½ rotisserie chicken, fries, salad, very good food. Under new ownership as of 2 weeks ago. More beach time at Divi. Walked down at 5PM to Belair to get 2 for 1 margarita’s. Dwyane makes the best. Dinner at Chesterfield’s, appetizer was crab stuffed mushrooms, tomato/mozerella, blackened tuna for me, crab stuffed shrimp for Fay, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Key lime and apple pie for ending a very good meal. Will go back again before we leave, very generous portions.

June – Wednesday, Morning beach time Divi. Later, headed over to LaSamanna to see renowned island artist Roland Richardson, he was painting in the dining room overlooking Baie Longue. He has a gallery on the premises as well as in Margiot.
Lunch at Lee’s Roadside Grill, ribs not bad, cole slaw was excellent. Back to Divi and more ocean time. Dinner at 3 Palms in Simpson Bay. Fay had rack of lamb, me red snapper , very good meal. Hardly any guests dining this evening.

June – Thursday, Beach time at the Divi. Lunch at Johnny B’s, ribs not so good. More beach time and tried the pool behind the Gizimo’s Beach bar. Dinner at Peg Leg Pub steakhouse in Port de Plaisance, rib eye and strip were good. Very quiet, only 4 folks dining.

June – Friday, Headed over to Orient Beach, light winds today, perfect conditions on Orient. Parked at Club O, no fee for parking. Chairs and umbrellas on the ocean front were $20. Walked down to Andy’s & Cheryl’s for lunch, 1$ = 1 Euro, Pedro’s closed no ships in port today. More sand gravity time, left around 4:30. Short swim back at Divi. Dinner at the Stone Restaurant (ground level in old Pelician Bay Bldg) Food is partially cooked and finished cooking by you on a hot stone on your table. Very cool dining idea. Duck breast and flank steak/w gouda cheese kabobs, Bottle of Brouilly red. Used Jeff Berger coupon for 10% discount.

June – Saturday, Off shopping for more souvenirs in the store across from the Salt Pond in Philipsburg (yellow flags in front) has free parking,. Ample choices of gifts for whomever. Back to Divi by 11 AM, more ocean time, lunch at Gizimo’s Beach bar, pizza feeds two. At 5PM more 2 for 1 drinks from the Belair. Dinner in Philipsburg at LeEscargot, waiter a little snotty for us. Food was disappointing, overpriced, Snapper not good, ravioli shrimp appetizer lacked shrimp, was told it had a puree sauce, hard to believe this. Fettuccini not cooked completely, for the money many other better choices.
