We're back after the normal US Airways delays.
Some simple comments on our stay and our 7 days staying at Mont Vernon.

Room - Excellent veiw, clean, large, large balcony compared to most with ocean view, broken toilet seat, broken door lock (stick had to be used for locking) air conditioner leaked but was fixed right away. Beach - probably the best spot on Orient if you want to avoid the noise and smell of the jet ski's. Also best spot for swimming compared to the rest of the beach. Staff - freindly and helpful. Food - Ok.

National - Alamo car rental - IF at all possible avoid this one and choos one that cares. We had a flat which happend in the driveway. I had to change it by putting on the bald spare in the trunk. They then had the nerve to charge us $ 20.00 to put another one in the trunk that had three plugs. When we took the car back with more gas than we recieved, they charged us an extra $15.00 as they told us they charged extra if brought back after 9:30 A.M. They were the rudest service we found.

Euro Dollar thing - It depended where you went. It was my impression that the Euro was worth less than the dollar but the Hotel posted the exchange as the dollar equaling .85 to the dollar. It depended where you went but I think they are basicly trying to take advantage at most places on the French side. Didn't have much experience on the Dutch side but would just caution to watch your money if you have dollars.
People. Most very freindly and helpful (except for National - Alamo).
Environment - Too bad but it seems S.M. is ending up like most islands with over population and overdevelopment. It did seem like there was more debris around the beaches especially on the Dutch side.
The seldom used beaches on Pinel Island were a mess and also the cliffs by Mont Vernon. As stated before, the smell of burning exhaust from the motors takes a lot away from breathing in the Carribean breezes.
Airlines - Get used to having your underwear investigated anywhere in the airport. Also, you will need your I.d. and passport whenever you stand, sit or move in the airport. Forget about thinking you will not experience delays. Figure on spending an extra night in your connection city on U.S. Airways if that's the airline you take.

Weather - Excellent!!

Atmosphere - Relaxing as always.

Mood - sexy

Would we go back? Of course but we will try another hotel maybe on the Dutch side next time, just to see if the attitude is better.

All in all it's always an experience, we are grateful to be home and to have the freedom to have a vacation. Good luck to all who dare.
